This is a nice looking historic hotel. However, there were issues. First, no staff member made any effort to assist us with luggage from the Uber to the lobby. They did not even open the door.|The desk top computer in the "business center" would not print to the printer there. Had to make a couple of trips to the front desk for them to print it out there. What a hassle.|The bed was very uncomfortable.|As we were leaving for the day, asked for towels and informed front desk that the conditioner in the bathroom was empty. Was assured that it would be taken care of. It was not. While in the shower, discovered conditioner was still empty and had to get out and call the front desk. |Room was very clean. Bathroom was VERY small, but shower was nice..It's in a nice location.|For the money we paid, I expected much more.I would not recommend staying here.

Stayed here for 3 nights and it was perfect. Staff was super friendly and room was always clean when I returned. There is a 7/11 about 15 min walk from the hotel as well for getting some snacks and the room had a fridge.

Shower was nice and had a hand held and main part so could get a good shower.

They have valet parking. But I decided to Uber it instead of a car. So was no issue.

The building is cute and interesting and has a lot of classic touches that were neat. AC worked perfectly and the room was quiet.

Gym was in basement and had multiple treadmill and elliptical machines as well as free weights. Towels and water also in gym.

Vending machine was a bit overpriced so I recommend the 7/11 nearby or stopping by a store on the way.

No complaints. Would def stay here again if in downtown San Jose.

I’ve stayed here 5+ times and have generally have good experiences. It’s very downtown San Jose, making it easy to walk everywhere and has a restaurant on the ground floor which opens at 6:30am for breakfast.
I give it 4/5 as the rooms are a little dated, but overall is a nice property and I’d recommend it.

Small, like tiny shoebox room. Asked for a room away from elevators and quiet - got a room diagonal from the elevators and facing the tramline - not quiet. Bathroom, minus the shower, is the size of an airplane bathroom. No space on the sink for toiletries. No room for the suitcase except on the desk. Front desk service is good. (the only reason this is rated as average). Valet service is overworked and cars line-up during busy times. Check the valet prices before parking. Average wifi speed and usual Marriott access. Historic building with interesting staircase - faster to walk than wait for the elevators. 10 minutes from SJC. Noise from the hotel meetings was minimal in the room.

Very cold and unfriendly front desk. Beds were wayyyyy too short in length (like beds for teens). Usually, when getting a room with 2 double beds, they are XL length. It is the very first time in years, I get the actual short length. I am 5’5” and my feet touched the end of the bed. Just imagining my husband, his feet would be dangling outside the bed… I am platinum with Marriott but since it was my company who booked thru a 3rd party, the front desk staff treated so poorly. I will definitely NEVER come back here. Facilities are not up to the Westin quality expected although I understand the effort put into the renovation of this historical building. Only good thing was the car valet, great service!

Everything regarding our stay, from the cleanliness to the upkeep, was great. The front desk was polite, and the valet service was professional and timely. The technology (TV) could use an upgrade, no streaming. Just cable television. However, I had a terrible experience with in room dining and customer service thereafter.

For context, my lady and I had very little to eat the previous day. We ordered in-room dining from the hotel's breakfast menu. It seemed as though room service was particularly busy, which is fine, but the wait time for placing my food order was a bit long. By the time we got our food and began to eat, it was cold. My lady ordered the eggs, potatoes, and toast. I ordered the pancakes and salmon avocado toast. We were supposed to share a basket of pastries, but that never arrived. She had orange juice and I had some coffee. The pancakes were rubbery, and the bread for the avocado toast was hard. Other than that, it was tasty and we were content with what we ordered.

As we began packing up for checkout (~1.5 hours later) I began experiencing stomach cramping and nausea. Just before leaving, I threw up in the toilet, and on the way home threw up in my car. I had diarrhea at home for the next 24 hours. When I finally felt good enough to call the hotel, I explained to the front desk my experience and concerns. They transferred me to someone else, who assured me I would recieve a refund. I made it clear I would only accept compensation for what I could not stomach, as my lady enjoyed her breakfast just fine.

I received an email the next day with a cold, half sentence message stating I would not recieve a refund. That's it. No other option to remedy the poor experience. I was going to leave a good review and actually stay here again in a couple of weeks. As things stand, I will be looking elsewhere. I expected more from a "4-star" hotel's customer care.
