This was my second visit and somewhat similar to the first. Both this year, and in 2022, I was in town bringing my little guy(s) to space camp. For proximity to NASA, South Shore Harbour Resort and Confence Center (SSHR&C). In 2022, the primary difference was we had a change rooms due to insects and other issues, this year we did not. Overall, after my second visit in two years, my primary take-away was the same, SSHR&C has a ton of potential with a great property, nice location and useful amenities, however, execution is just underwhelming. The property could be cleaner, more well lit, just up-leveled over all. I would rather pay a bit more and have the property slightly improved than spend a 3rd visit with the same sub-par experience.||Now, all of this said, I do have to give SSHR&C kudos, as I checked-in on the Sunday afternoon just before tropical storm Beryl hit. So, Monday morning we had hurricane strength storms, no power, etc. The hotel did a decent job of keeping things going and ensuring guests were taken care of. They still could have done more, but I was impressed that they did what they could to keep everything running on the generator, etc. ||If ownership and management would just put some TLC into SSHR&C, I do believe it could be an even better version of itself and provide a much better experience for those who find themselves staying here. I would not discourage anyone from staying here, just be realistic and understand it will be on par with a Holiday Inn.||Pro Tip: reservations include access to the South Shore Harbour Fitness Center. While not attached to the hotel, it is a very short distance away through the parking lot and is an awesome fitness and community center! Access is a great ammenity of being a guest at SSHR&C!!!

I booked this hotel expecting a modern vibe, but instead got a delightful blast from the past! The bedding has been updated, but the room itself felt like a throwback to the hotels my parents used to stay in when I was a kid. They still have those old-school ice buckets and a vanity that seems straight out of a vintage movie. The rooms are well-preserved, but there’s no denying it’s got an older feel.
On the plus side, the staff was super friendly, and housekeeping did a great job during our multi-night stay. The views are lovely, and parking is convenient, which was a big win.

Would I stay here again? Probably not, but I can see this place being perfect for a couple wanting a bit of retro charm or for a conference stay. It’s got character—just not quite what I was looking for!

Spent 5 nights here visiting family. Having spent many nights at conference center hotels when working, South Shore was what I expected. Surprisingly large room. We had a king view room on the 8th floor. Beautiful view over the marina and Clear Lake as well as the pool area.|Room was clean, comfortable. Bed was very good.|Did not know it at the time, but a free buffet breakfast was included if you booked directly (normal price for 2 was $33.90). Excellent breakfast. Multiple options for fresh fruit, eggs, bacon/sausage, potatoes, toast/bagels every day. Alternating options: biscuits & gravy, breakfast burritos, etc. Very busy, the staff were non-stop but efficient and friendly.|Free parking was a plus. Restaurant/bar options in hotel, we did not get the chance to check them out.|Downsides... free Internet is horrid. I could barely pull up a web page. Best speed was 1.85Mbps, generally speed was below 1. Other hotels we stayed at on way to Texas and back were at a minimum 4Mbps. The Internet here is frustrating. You'd be better off not offering free Internet if you won't increase the speed enough to make it useful. I ended up using my phone as a hotspot for access.|Bathroom was large with a walk-in shower. Towel rack was opposite corner of bathroom from shower, no hooks nearby. Tile can be slippery when wet. There is an 8" section of wall between shower and door frame, perfect for a double hook to hang towels.|Last thing, they still slide paper copies of your invoice under the door on check out day. Pretty antiquated, wastes paper, requires labor. How about ask at checkin if a paper invoice is desired, otherwise email copy to guest (like every other hotel does).|Overall. Basis value and location, I'd stay here any time I'm in League City.

I am writing this review because I think guests should be aware of the potential danger of staying on this property. Hopefully corrections will be made before serious injuries occur. |On the afternoon of August 17 my husband and I attended a friend’s 80 th birthday celebration. It was in a party room on the ninth floor of the hotel. About an hour (3:00 pm) after the start of the party there was a total power failure which we thought was temporary. After over an hour and a half there was still no power and the room began to get warm. They started to serve the meal. No management came up to address the situation to the group of over 40 people average age 70 and above. No backup generator. The bathroom was dark, no back up lighting. The elevator did not work and the only way down to the first floor was the stairs and the stairwell was pitch black, No emergency lights. Several guest were in wheel chairs. The hotel obviously had no emergency plan and we were fortunate that no one was injured. Around 5:00 my husband and I went down the stairs with two hotel workers holding their cell phones to light our way down 18 flights. We did not want to be trapped up there at nightfall. I learned from the party hostess that the fire department came and carried the remaining guest down the stairs at 7:00 pm. It was a total nightmare!!!|We have stayed on this property in past years and had events. The experience was always a positive one. Apparently management has changed and not for the better for the customer. A lingering question for me has been what if there had been a fire, how would be have gotten down to the first floor?|I would not come here again. Many better hotel and resort options in Galveston just a few miles away.

When we head down to Galveston it's normally only to cruise and we spend the night in nearby Webster. This time our travels took us to League City for a four night state convention that was held at this resort.||We had a double queen bed balcony room facing the pool/marina. Room was a very good size with plenty of drawer/closet space. Had an easy chair plus a desk with chair. Lighting was good, room darkening shades. A/C and water pressure great. 2 chairs and a small table on the balcony. In room coffee maker with k cups, blow dryer, ironing board and iron. Bathroom was a bit small but there was a small vanity area in front of the closet. Housekeeping staff was spot on and very accommodating when I approached them in the hallway for additional coffee and towels. Beds comfortable but I would have preferred a bit softer pillows. ||Pool area:|Apparently Thursday-Sunday are the party days and when the pool bar and outside cafe is open. When we arrived on Sunday afternoon the pool was jammed and the DJ had the music at ear splitting volume. However, the rest of the week the very large pool was fairly empty. Having the swim up bar open would have been nice as some of us conventioneers would have used it after our programs ended for the day. With the angle of the sun there were very few shady places and also a limited number of lounge chairs. ||Dining:|Not sure when/if they actually open the bistro but it was closed for the entire duration of our stay. Yes, we had breakfasts and lunches provided at our convention but, short of our last night's banquet, our dinner choices were limited to going to Opus, their finer restaurant, or finding a neighboring restaurant in League City. IMHO, I would think that if they knew they had 400 attendees staying at the resort they might have opened the bistro as not many folks were willing to spend the bucks to dine at Opus.||Opus: We bit the bullet and did dine there on Sunday night. Is it pricey? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely!!!! In fact, husband and I thought the prices were reasonable for a better restaurant. I had the Opus pasta that was loaded with real crab, scallops, shrimp, and sun dried tomatoes in a scrumptious and very flavorful garlic/wine/lemon. Husband had the Veal New Orleans (I think that was the name) with roasted potatoes, green beans, a few wonderfully breaded veal cutlets topped in a bernaise sauce AND a 5 oz lobster tail. I think that entree was $40 but easily large enough portions for two to share.||As for off site dining, there are tons of places nearby as well as the Kimah Boardwalk.||Convention: I thought this was an EXCELLENT convention facility and want to give a shout out to their catering department as all our breakfast and lunch options were delicious and plentiful. OK- the coffee was terrible so hope they swtich brands.||In all fairness, we did receive a group room discount rate that more than fit into my relatively frugal budget when looking for just a pre-cruise overnight stay. So, if you're looking for something a little nicer with a view and quiet location, I'd recommend this resort.

Average hotel. Awesome location. Clean rooms. Pool was the best. Wish there were more English speaking staff as we had a hard time communicating with some of the housekeepers. The woman Cassie was very helpful, however. Awesome personality.

The room was clean and had great view. The bed was very uncomfortable. Room was very hot over night… fixed second day there. Hotel offered a complimentary breakfast for having to sleeping in a sauna more or less. Went to go try breakfast and was told they were prepping for brunch. Staff was nice. The pool needs to be better maintained… beer bottles, plastic cups, and straws were left all around the pool and some were even floating in it. I would say this is more party place versus appropriate for families.
