I came to Hong Kong Food Market because I was meeting a friend on 1960. I saw a sign on the left of Bammel North Houston Road. I stopped by and found so many goodies.

Went there to buy myself a big delicious lobster and unfortunately what I bought was a Big lobster with almost no food inside. The lobster looked like it was never fed due to the size of the meat inside. The price per pound was $14, 99 and we paid $75 for almost nothing. Very disappointed.

I like the fresh vegetables. A lot of Asian vegetables are available here in this market that you don’t get in any other market I always buy taro root from here my favorite vegetable they also have fresh fish. The only problem is in the fish market where the staffs are very rude With very bad attitude. Other than that great place to shop some fresh Asian vegetables. Great prices are available for fresh green leafy vegetables too.

I'm writing to share my disturbing experience with the ‘Chinese carp’ fish I purchased from Hong Kong Market. Unfortunately, this isn't my first visit, but this time, I encountered a serious issue with the fish I bought.

I purchased 3.5 pounds of Chinese carp, but when I tried to consume it, I noticed a strong, pungent chemical odor coming from the fish meat. Despite soaking it in salt water for an hour and washing it twice before frying, the chemical flavor persisted. It tasted like ammonia or some preservative, which was extremely concerning.

I tried a few pieces to see if the flavor would improve, but it didn't. I ended up discarding the entire purchase to prioritize my health and safety. The fish was only $15, but it's not worth risking my well-being.

I strongly advise others to exercise caution when purchasing seafood from this market, especially if you're concerned about your health. I hope the food safety authorities will investigate this establishment and take necessary actions to ensure the quality and safety of their products.

This store would be one of my go-to destinations to buy seafood, vegetables, meat, and other international grocery products.

They do have a wide variety of grocery selections like Indonesian, Filipino, Thailand, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Korean food products.

They also sell bread and other Asian pastries.

One thing I noticed when I go to shop here is that it's always cold no matter what time of season it is.

Another thing, too, is that their restrooms are not that pleasant.

All in all, it does meet my groceries' needs.

Hong Kong Supermarket has been a bit of a letdown during my recent visits. While I do love the exotic fruits, snacks, exotic foods, and international Buldak Ramen noodles; I initially went in with high expectations, I found that the overall experience did not live up to the hype.

Firstly, the cleanliness of the store leaves much to be desired. I recently visited the seafood department of my local grocery store, and I must say, it was a thoroughly unpleasant experience. As soon as I approached the area, I was hit by an overwhelming, foul smell that was hard to ignore. It was not just a light odor; it was a pungent stench that made me question the freshness and quality of the seafood on display.

The sight of the seafood didn’t help either. Some of the fish appeared to be discolored, and several items were sitting in what looked like old, murky water. I found it hard to believe that any of this seafood was truly fresh. The unpleasant odor and the unappealing presentation made me feel uneasy about purchasing anything.

Moreover, when I tried to ask the staff for assistance, they seemed indifferent and uninterested in addressing my concerns. Their lack of customer service only added to my disappointment. I left the department feeling frustrated and unable to trust the quality of the seafood available.

Overall, I would not recommend this seafood department to anyone. The awful smell and questionable freshness of the products were enough to deter me from ever returning. If you're looking for quality seafood, I suggest looking elsewhere.

Moreover, the customer service could use significant improvement. On multiple occasions, I found staff to be unhelpful and indifferent when I sought assistance. It felt as though they were more focused on their tasks than on providing a pleasant shopping experience for customers.

While they do offer a wide variety of Asian products, I found that some items were overpriced compared to other local markets. This inconsistency in pricing, combined with the lack of knowledgeable staff to help guide purchases, made my shopping experience frustrating.

In summary, while Hong Kong Supermarket has potential with its diverse product range, the cleanliness, customer service, and pricing inconsistencies make it a subpar choice for grocery shopping. I hope they can address these issues in the future.
